Does "Always Include Tangents" rebuilds Normals?

Dear forum,

I am working with a small terrain that includes the octvertexnormals extension specified here.

While the Normals in the upper version look smoother, the “Always Include Tangents” option leeds to discontinuities in between faces with booth versions of the terrain.

  • Does the the “Always Include Tangents” option rebuilds the Normals - essentially removing the need of including octvertexnormals on Unreal while using the option?
  • Is there another way to get continuous Normals with Tangents?

Fixed by using a terrain

  • with baked octvertexnormal,
  • “always generate tangent” not enabled and
  • the small edit in the terrain material mentioned here.
