So i was watching this video here of the new Microsoft Flight Sim 2024 (MSFS 2024) video. It’s pretty impressive what they have able to achieve. It might be the most realistic digital to twin of earth yet… That got me thinking, I wish there was a way to stream in MSFS scenery into Cesium.
Then I got into brainstorming how that might be technically possible. What if Microsoft created a high resolution photogrammetry model of the earth based off the highest setting in Microsoft Flight Simulator. That could be streamed in just like Google 3D tiles? I mean all they would really need is some in game “drones” to scan each section of their simulation at high resolution. They would also have control of removing all cars, clouds, and clutter. Then they could sell the tiles just like Google does giving Google a run for its money. Microsoft could then sell the data to all kinds of clients that run on low end hardware, mobile and web platforms. Has anyone tried to reach out to Microsoft and shoot them this idea?
