Realistic earth texture & global cloud/weather coverage

Hello CesiumJS community  !

I have taken a look on a lot of forum / github posts but haven’t found any up-to-date information on this, so here I am !

  • I am working on yet another satellite data vizualisation tool using CesiumJS
  • My objective is to get something looking really sexy and good looking.

So I have two questions :

  1. I have found about the methods to change earth textures/tiles. I am only looking at using local data (not external texture/tiles APIs). Question : are there free (or payware) resources available somewhere that provide local, downloadable tiles/textures ?

  2. I would really like to give the earth a realistic look and from my point of view, one of the ways to achieve this is to implement cloud coverage :

Question : are there any ways to implement cloud coverage textures (that may be dynamically activated/deactivated) ? I found about volumetric clouds but I think the objective is different - my objective is to have a good-looking cloud coverage from far away, not in local scenes.

Best regards,
Clément

Bump - does anyone have an idea how to achieve this ?
