Sony VR glasses & Cesium application on laptop / pc

Hi there Cesium people!

I have a q about to use a decent and good quality of VR glasses within Cesium VR. Does anyone of you have experience with Sony Playstation VR & Cesium?

(I want to use this on the laptop I’m using for development of the application. In production I will use a smartphone with a cheap VR headset.)

I’m very curious about this!

Hello,

Cesium currently only has support for Google Cardboard, but we’d love to play around with adding support for devices like playstation VR and oculus. From my understanding it shouldn’t be too hard to get this working, we just have to update our VR support to match the latest WebVR specification.

Best,

Hannah

Hey Hannah,

Thanks for your reply! I will develop the stuff on the frontend. When I see some options to optimize the VR plugin I can use the source of cesium ofcourse.

On my Android Huawei P9 phone the application is performing very nice. So implementation on a website with 3D visuality is very good on the phone. The VR glass on a laptop with Playstation VR is something else ofcourse. I will try this in the shop where I can test the VR.

I will inform you about my experiences here.

Ok! Thats Fine with me. I did Just buy the Sony VR and did a test with Cesium VR plugin with it. I needed some drivers to use my 4k nvidea graphics Card to send the display to the OLED of the Sony. It works! Let s get in contact! Find me on Twitter / Linkedin = #geoneer @geoneer

Check this guy how to setup the Sony VR. Then it works properly in VR Modes in Cesium. So I can fly in 3D now over my own geodata

The headtracker on the globe is a workaround with de mousepointer:

To do:

Activate the gyroscope on the windows machine itself. So have to get / make some OEM drivers to read the movement of the VR.
