The Acceleration Agency has built a digital twin for the Port of Corpus Christi using ArcGIS Maps SDK for Unity. The digital twin integrates numerous live data feeds, including security camera views, computer-aided dispatch (CAD) incidents, and live vessel traffic, into a single pane for management of the port’s extensive operations.
When they wanted to easily extend or revoke access on an as-needed basis, they turned to CesiumJS. The Acceleration Agency brought that same ArcGIS data into CesiumJS for an accessible, real-time viewer in any browser that will allow dispatchers and field officers to coordinate across agencies.
Great example of how CesiumJS can extend an existing GIS workflow into an accessible, browser-based digital twin.
I especially like the approach of bringing ArcGIS data and live operational feeds into a real-time 3D viewer for cross-agency coordination.
I’m currently building SHINOBI EARTH, a 3D WebGIS Digital Twin prototype using CesiumJS and React/TypeScript, so this use case is particularly interesting to me.
In a follow up to the user story we published, The Acceleration Agency has published a blog post about their work, including the enhancements they made to support compatibility between various 3D building scene layer formats, converting building scene layers at runtime, improve texture mapping for architectural geometry, reduce shimmer on flat rooftops and industrial surfaces, and optimize memory usage when multiple active data layers simultaneously.
