Hi @WANGShuai ,
Thanks for your post and being part of the Cesium community.

Can you clarify the distortions you are seeing? Are you referring to the alternating dark and slightly less dark blue waves on the surface of the water in the view foreground?

Please note some default appearances in Cesium have changed as a result of recently released visual quality improvements. If you wish to discard these new defaults and restore the previous appearance of your scene, you can adjust some API settings. To see what changed and how to turn off new defaults you can start by consulting https://github.com/CesiumGS/cesium/blob/main/CHANGES.md

If you believe the distortions you see are bugs, can you share more info about the systems you are using?

  • Browser
  • CesiumJS Version
  • Operating System

Let us know!
Best,
Luke

Hi @Luke_McKinstry ,
Thanks for your reply. You can refer to the sandcastle link I post, there is no imagery layer in the scene, the blue surface is the original earth surface, but you can still see the alternating dark on the surface, I don’t think it is a normal phenomenon.
Here are the info about the systems I am using:

  • Browser:Google Chrome 130.0.6723.59
  • CesiumJS Version:Cesium 1.123
  • Operating System:Windows 10 Professional 22H2 19045.5011

Just a small data point: I also looked at the sandcastle. And I also did see the error: It was clearly visible, grainy noise in the blue area. And this noise “moved” randomly when moving the camera - it looked like some sort of “screen space” effect. It was only visible in a very narrow are of the camera configuration (i.e. it disappeared quickly when moving up/down).

Now, I’m at a different PC, and there, I do not see the noise. So it looks like it is related to the GraphicsCard/Driver (or, less likely, the OS).

(I’ll try to add more details about the GraphicsCard/OS, and maybe a screen capture that shows the effect, when I’m back at the PC where I could reproduce it)

Thanks @WANGShuai and @Marco13
I created an issue here in the Cesium repo

I added a comment at A rendering bug with globe at specific camera angles · Issue #12288 · CesiumGS/cesium · GitHub , with some details and screen captures. In fact, it seems to be related not (only) to the camera angle, but also (specifically) to the sun being near the horizon.
