We’ve added clipping to Cesium ion! Many of you have been telling us for years that you want to extend your use of 3D geospatial data offline or with DCC tools, and today we’re incredibly happy to bring you clips. We can’t wait to see how you use them:
- Clip, download, and use your clips with any software that supports 3D Tiles or glTF.
- Use clips where a small geographic area provides sufficient geospatial context or where it’s essential to be disconnected.
- Import clips to DCC tools like Blender or After Effects to enhance geospatial data or to include them in new models.
To try clipping, go the Clips tab. You can also clip with ion’s REST API. Note that:
- All Cesium ion accounts receive a monthly quota of clips.
- You can create massive clips of data you import, and large clips up to 25 km2 from assets in the Asset Depot, including Cesium World Terrain and Cesium World Bathymetry.
- Some Asset Depot assets aren’t clippable for licensing reasons, including Bing imagery and Google Photorealistic 3D Tiles.
- Clipping will be available in Cesium ion Self-Hosted soon.
