Computer Freezes During Cesium Rendering (Stuck on Frame 1)

Hello,

I’m writing to ask for help with an issue where my computer completely freezes when rendering in Cesium.

My computer specifications are:

  • CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 7950X3D 16-Core

  • GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4080 SUPER

As you can see in the attached photo, the rendering process gets stuck on the very first frame and makes no further progress. This is a recent problem; I haven’t had any issues with rendering in the past.

How can I resolve this issue?

Hi @teddyyun, welcome to the community!

I’m guessing you mean that Unreal Engine is freezing, not your entire computer?

If so, my first guess is that the tileset is never finishing loading for some reason. While recording a video, Cesium for Unreal will wait for all tiles to load before allowing the frame to proceed. If that never happens, the frame will never proceed. Why that is happening, though, is harder to guess. Are you using the latest version of Cesium for Unreal? Which tilesets and raster overlays are you using?

Thank you for your reply. I’m using the latest version and would like to use the Google Photorealistic 3D tileset. It worked fine six months ago, but after upgrading to the new version, this issue occurred. Is there a way to roll back to the previous version six months ago?

Hi Teddyyun, I’ve got exactly the same issue. Your screenshot looks identical to where mine is hanging. Someone said on another thread that you have to leave it for around 30mins. Mines been stuck for 2.5 hrs now, and I’m going to leave it overnight to see if that helps.

my task manager is showing UE using around 4% of my CPU, so it’s doing something. I also checked on my cesium account to see is there’s any messages.

Did you manage to find a solution, such as rolling back? I’ve only just started using cesium - it looked too good to be true, but now I’m not so sure….
