DigitalGlobe recently announced that they are providing imagery data to OpenStreetMap. Are there plans to bring that to cesiumjs as well?
Hi Fidel,
This DigitalGlobe data was made available to OSM specifically for their editor and is not a part of the actual OSM offerings, so there’s no plan to bring it to Cesium. See here for more details:
https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/DigitalGlobe
Generally speaking, the default imagery and data we provide with Cesium just for demonstration purposes – not all of it can be used for commercial / published applications.
We know these datasets are really nice, but please do due diligence with license checking before using!
Best,
- Rachel
Hi Fidel,
Something I overlooked: https://cesiumjs.org/2015/10/08/DigitalGlobe’s-New-Cesium-Compatible-Maps-API/
DigitalGlobe’s Map API is actually something we’ve explored and tried with Cesium with great results!
