Labels not displaying on Ubuntu

I am having issues seeing the labels in this example:

Problem exists on Ubuntu 14.04 (64-bit), Chrome 37.0.2062.94 and Firefox 32.0.

Any insight into this problem would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Ryan,

It’s working for me in Chrome 37.0.2062.120 and Firefox 32.0 on Ubuntu 14.04 (64 bit).

Thanks for checking. I just tried in a different VM, and it's working there for me. I wonder if I have a package installed on my primary system that is causing a conflict? If I find anything, I'll post it.

This turned out to be an video driver issue. To fix it, i did this:

Software Updater --> Settings --> Additional Drivers

The selected value was "Using X.Org X server- AMD/ATI display driver wrapper from xserver-xorg-video-ati (open source, tested)"

I switched it to "Using Video driver for the AMD graphics accelerators from fglrx (proprietary)", rebooted, and my labels started appearing.

The system was an iMac btw.
