While mainstream vector tiling solutions are built for 2D maps, we are embracing a 3D-native approach: adding support for 3D vector points, lines, and polygons with real-time level-of-detail streaming, millimeter-level precision, and runtime styling. This will cover everything from city-scale road networks and AI-extracted POIs to highly detailed construction design lines and bridge inspections.

I read the “Help Shape Vector Data Support in 3D Tiles” post, and I’m really excited about vector data support in 3D Tiles 2.0.
In the video in the post, the polygon outlines were displayed as pink dashed lines. Is it possible to express dashed polylines and polygon outlines through Cesium3DTileStyle?
I understand there are cases where dashed line rendering is needed for vector data. If you could share the current state of support, or any alternative approaches (custom shaders?), I’d really appreciate it.
Good eye! Yes vector data styling will be a focus for our next step. As of now we have solid or transparent lines for polylines with adjustable color & width, and color filling option for polygon. We’re exploring additions to 3D Tiles Styling Language, so you can expect Cesium3DTileStyle to have more features overtime with our future releases.
And dashed outlines are of interests yes! Specifically, what type of dashed lines are you looking at? Curious about the level of control that is important to you, e.g., spacing, customization of symbols, fading?
It would be great if you can share a screenshot or description of your use case!
I’m hoping you could at least officially support evenly-spaced dashed lines. And if I may be greedy, it would be even better to be able to specify patterns equivalent to OpenGL’s glLineStipple. Looking forward to future updates!
