Tutorial on importing data into ion from AWS?

Tiling data from AWS is a little bit of a hidden feature. There isn’t much on the topic other than this blog: Tile Massive 3D Data on Cesium ion Directly from AWS S3 | cesium.com.

I think it would be useful to have a short tutorial/article on cesium.com/docs that explains:

  • It’s possible to tile directly from AWS!
  • Here’s how to do it, just sign up, click this button, enter your AWS bucket/key etc
  • Explain the perks: uses less storage in your account so you can tile more data

I think this would be a good entry point for a lot of people to try out Cesium ion since this is a much lower barrier, if you already have some big datasets on AWS.
