I attempted to upload a .ply file to Cesium ion, but the upload failed with an internal error. With the July 2025 release, I understand that Cesium ion now supports Gaussian splats as a technical preview, allowing .ply files to be uploaded with the Gaussian splats toggle enabled. However, despite this new feature, my upload was unsuccessful, and I’m trying to understand whether the issue is related to the file structure, metadata, or another requirement not being met. I’d appreciate any guidance on how to properly prepare .ply files for Gaussian splatting in Cesium ion, or clarification on current limitations.
