FBX materials not showing up in Asset Editor

Hi there,

I have a question regarding the uploading of an .fbx file to Cesium Ion.
I modeled the original geometry in 3Ds Max and imported it into Cesium Ion as an .fbx with baked materials.
Yet, the materials show up as transparent yellow instead (See image below).
Would anyone know why this is happening? I tried using a different render engine but that didn’t fix it.

Thank you!

Hi there,

Could you provide us with the ion asset ID for this data? We can try to reproduce this problem internally and get back to you.

Thanks,
Matt

Hi there,

Thank you for your reply.
The Cesium Asset ID is 759516.

Thank you!

Anna

Hi Anna,

Thanks for providing the asset ID. I’ve managed to reproduce the problem, and I’m wondering if there is an issue with the materials/textures in the source data. When I open the .fbx in Blender, I see that when Viewport Shading is set to Solid, the materials look OK. But when I set Viewport Shading to Material Preview, there are missing textures. There are references to a lot of baked textures, but I did some spot-checking, and none of the ones I looked at appeared to be present in the file.

I managed to make the materials look more correct by exporting as .obj and tiling that. Can you give that a try and let us know the results?

Thanks,
Matt
