Google Photorealistic 3D tiles replaced with older images

Hi - I was working today on an archviz house in UE5.5 when the Google 3D tiles updated. In reality, the house is under construction on a large site that has been graded by the developer. I’m in the very early stages of creating the virtual house for walkthroughs of interior and landscape design options. The weird thing is that today the Google tiles were replaced with historical images, instead of new images. I know this because several years ago there was a country lane that passed over the lot where the house is being constructed.

I don’t believe this is a Cesium issue at all. But can people familiar with Google 3D Photorealistic tiles comment if they have seen this before? Is it a temporary phenomenon when new tiles are being loaded? Can I look forward to the current terrain returning?

I’m uploading two pictures. The first picture shows the terrain more or less as it is in recent times and for the future. The second picture shows my house incased in the country lane that hasn’t existed for years. If nothing else, it looks like a humorous disaster scene.

Thanks,
Brian

Hi @adagiolearner, welcome to the community!

Unfortunately, we can’t do anything about this (as you noted) because the data is solely managed by Google. I’m not sure what drove that decision on their end

But thanks for letting us know about this change! You can always go to the Google Maps Platform’s support page and submit some feedback. They even have a link for “Incorrect Maps Data”, which might be appropriate in this case. Hopefully they can remedy it on their side after they receive the report.

Thanks Janine! My lesson learned is to avoid placing 3D models on tiles that are subject to significant earthmoving changes.

Kind regards,
Brian
