SOCIS 2013

Hi all,
I would like to know if your organization will partecipate to SOCIS this year, and if there is somewhere a project list.

Thanks,
-- Marco

Hi Marco,

I’ll be serving as the admin for Cesium’s application to SOCIS this year. We’'ll have some more specific information posted during the week, but for now you can take a look at the GSoC project ideas page. Some more space-related project topics mentioned in a previous post included an orbit tuner app and improvements to stars and night lights. If you have any project ideas of your own, we would love to hear them.

Thanks,
Kristian

Hi Kristian,
I gave a glance to the GSoC projects. Since I am a student in mathematics the projects that I found more interesting are the two Graphic ones: Geometric Algorithms and Declutter for Map Labels. While I am waiting for you posting more specific information, I would like to read some documentation or source code in order to get some base knowledge of the Cesium framework could you provide me any reference ?

Thanks,
-- Marco

Hello,

I’ll give you some tips on how to get started based on my experience as an applicant for Google Summer of Code 2013.

Most of what you need is on Cesium’s wiki:
https://github.com/AnalyticalGraphicsInc/cesium/wiki

You should start by going through the Contributor’s Guide and try to build Cesium on your machine:
https://github.com/AnalyticalGraphicsInc/cesium/wiki/Contributor’s-Guide

You could also have a look at Cesium’s Architecture:
https://github.com/AnalyticalGraphicsInc/cesium/wiki/Architecture

After that and if you want to jump right into coding, you should look at the GitHub Issues listed as “Beginner” as they are the best way to get your feet wet. (https://github.com/AnalyticalGraphicsInc/cesium/issues?labels=beginner&page=1&state=open)

Good luck,
André
