Tiling Stalled on 10GB tif

Hi, I have a tiling job (asset id 2898788) of a ~10GB tif file uploaded as raster imagery that has stalled at 7%. It was uploaded 10 hrs ago, and at this rate will not finish in the 24 hour limit. Is this typical for large tiling jobs in ion? Is there a limit on file size?

Hi,

ion should be able to handle tiffs of that size. I will loop in the tiling team to take a look at this issue and reach out to you once I have an update.

Hi @jacquelineHyphae,

Firstly, I apologize for the lack of response here. The tiling team got back to me with the following through their investigation:

  • This is a black & white image (it looks like a land mask)
  • Because it’s 2 colors it compresses extremely well
  • Actual size is 500786 x 923820, so uncompressed size is 462GB
  • Goes to level 20 which is 0.29m per pixel

We could do a custom tiling job for the user, but please confirm that the user would need that level of detail with their use case?

Please confirm your use case that this would require that level of detail
