Asset error glTF

Hello Cesium Community,

I tried to upload an asset (~105 mb house model) to Cesium ion and got the following error.

This model is a kmz originally and I tried to convert it via (Convert KMZ to GLB for free - ImageToStl).

A model around 3-4 mb was successful and my other model with 105mb is not working.

Furthermore, I found this topic (Upload Error aset id:648278 AND ID:649387 - Cesium ion - Cesium Community) similar to this. I doubt the size of the model matters in this case. But still it is around 105mb.

Any help on resolving this issue will be appreciated. Thank you very much.

Hi,

A couple things here:

  1. You can load the kmz directly into Cesium ion to convert it to 3D tiles
  2. Since the model is failing with the 3D_Model option, I would recommend trying out the BIM/CAD option to see if that helps

I tried to upload the kmz file. But the uploaded asset does not allow me to change the location of the tile set. That is the main thing I need to solve. Then I realized I can do it by converting it to the glTF format. Then I faced this issue.

However, it worked when I tried with BIM/CAD option. I will try to figure out the differences between those options and why it worked. Thank you very much.

Allowing users to adjust the location of KML uploads is on our roadmap in the near future and is being actively worked on. But glad the BIM/CAD option worked, the BIM/CAD option runs a newer pipeline for gltf and will eventually replace the 3D_MODEL option
