Best Practices for Tree/Foliage Coverage

I’ve recently started learning Unreal with Cesium as a project to visualise rewilding in my part of the world. The steps to generate the correct locations was all very logical, but I’m struggling to get good results covering the tileset with trees.

The real time aspect of the tree painting is maybe causing my painting to clump even with paint density settings turned down. Given I am trying to cover entire hills and terrain in dense rainforest cover, is there a more practical way to designate parts of the terrain as suitable for foliage? I’m running an M1 Mac Mini so not a powerhouse but it handles some of the nanite trees scenes fine… Tips are welcome.

I don’t have much first-hand experience with this myself, but we do have two tutorials on the subject that might be useful to you:
