What needs to be done so that photo textures are stretched on white 3D models of buildings?

You can drape raster overlays like Bing Maps over white 3D building models as described in this thread. Note that this only applies textures from the top, so it is stretched down all the sides of the buildings.
If you need images on the side of buildings, you’ll likely have to texture the model in a 3D modeling application.


I’ve tried applying custom textures via the material layers, but it seems regardless of texture scale, it never appears on the face of the buildings.

It appears, but it’s so stretched it’s not even clear that there’s a texture there.

Has anyone produced good results with this?
