Hi all,
I’ve been trying follow the updates on the capabilities of underwater/seasurface visualization of cesiumjs and I’m just wondering if there are any updates currently on having a bathymetry dataset that we can use.
Thanks!
For Cesium Unreal Engine as well.
I guess it depends what you mean by that. There’s already support for underground models and entities, which also means underwater, so what outside of that are you referring to? What are you trying to do?
Cheers,
Alex
I would like to have a scene with submarines underwater and be able to track their movements over time. I was just asking if there was a free bathymetry dataset I could use to show the bumps and hills in the sea to ultimately display the underwater scene.
Gotcha; a terrain model for under the sea. Not sure, never done that before, but I’m sure it’s out there I’d do a WMS search for it, you might find something local to where your submarines are, or a global model, not sure. But yeah, Cesium doesn’t support an underwater terrain model, at least not in an out-of-the-box way, but I think you can simulate it by a global terrain model that also models the surface of water, and then add a transparent ellipsis in its own entity collection that you exclude from various selection / picking places. Let us know how you go.
Cheers,
Alex
