Z-axis movement abrupt in Play Mode (xbox controller)

Hi all,
I’ve been playing around with using an Xbox controller to navigate Cesium for Unreal.
I’ve found when moving around in the Viewport (using joysticks) and additionally pressing the up and down commands (left and right triggers), the navigation makes nice smooth arcs. But when I do the same with the Dynamic Pawn in Play Mode, the up and down movements are much more abrupt when compared with other movements.
Does anyone know if there is a way of reproducing the smooth arcs I’m seeing in the Viewport in Play Mode?
