Hi,
awesome stuff, congrats for the implementation of Photorealistic 3D Tiles from Google!
Before I start experimenting, does this work with UE 4.27.2? We still cannot update to UE5.x because of VR issues, so we are stuck with 4.27 for the foreseeable future (Epic promised some important fixes for UE5.3).
Best
Andreas
Thanks, we’re really excited to see Google’s data made available to our users!
The last version of Cesium for Unreal that supports UE 4.27 should work with Google’s data, but you may miss out on some of the most recent improvements and optimizations.
I’m in the same boat as Andreas and cannot update to UE4.27 or 5.x. Is it possible to use Google 3D Tiles with 4.26? I am getting an error:
LogHttp: Warning: Could not perform game thread setup, processing HTTP request failed. Increase verbosity for additional information.
LogHttp: Warning: 00000201CBF0F200: request failed, libcurl error: 0 (No error)
LogCesium: Error: [2024-09-26 10:19:48.191] [error] [TilesetContentManager.cpp:780] An unexpected error occurs when loading tile: Connection failed.
LogSlate: Window ‘Select a Cesium ion Token’ being destroyed
Any thoughts?
Thanks,
Brian
Hi @digtlpete,
I believe it’s possible to use Google Photorealistic 3D Tiles directly from Google in UE 4.26, but not from Cesium ion. You’ll also have to manually ensure you’re complying with Google’s terms of use regarding attributions, because those old versions won’t handle it for you automatically.
Our ability to provide free support for very old versions is extremely limited, and the Cesium for Unreal plugin has improved greatly since v1.20.1 (the last that supported UE 4.26). So I’m not sure I can really recommend this path to you.
